CES 2016: Netatmo Announces 'Presence' Security Camera That Can Detect Cars, People and Animals

Netatmo unveils smart security camera Presence
Netatmo's 'Presence' is an impressive new home security camera unveiled as this year's CES.
Smart home products aren't exactly sexy; no one is going to get all worked up over a web-connected light bulb or a door lock you control with an app. But anyone who's tinkered around with a few of these very-in, high-tech gadgets can likely see the appeal: Ways to automate the home are, in theory, supposed to make your life that much easier.
Netatmo plans to begin selling Presence in the third quarter of 2016. The camera will then let the user to know instantly what's happening outside his home, before sending the corresponding smart notification of "Person seen", "Car seen" or "Animal seen".
This is made possible thanks to the inclusion of the revolutionary Smart-Sight feature, where Smart-Sight makes use of a breakthrough deep learning algorithm that is capable of detecting the presence of people, cars and animals. Beyond basic security functions, the camera can alert you when a delivery person drops off a package and no one is there to receive it or allow you to keep tabs on a vacation home.
The security camera uses encryption and passes along data via Wi-Fi connections.
The camera itself includes infra-red technology for low-light conditions and a "smart" floodlight, to scare off threats or to help the home owner at night. Users can customize the level of alerts they wish to receive, and can set up smart zones that are monitored by the camera. It has a 100 degree field of view, a 20 meter detection range, and it is weatherproof. Alerts will be sent if the Presence is accessed from an unapproved Internet Protocol address.
Netatmo was founded by Fred Potter in 2011.

Netatmo has launched a new smart outdoor securty camera able to detect and report about people, cars and animals.
The Full HD camera analyses in real-time if someone loiters around the home, a car enters the driveway or an animal is outside.
Once any activity is recognised, Presence notifies the user if something has been detected by sending them smart notifications.
These range from 'person seen' to 'car seen', or 'animal seen'.
Fred Potter, Founder and CEO of Netatmo said: “Presence goes way beyond existing outdoor security solutions on the market.

"As the only consumer outdoor security system using a sophisticated deep learning technology, Smart-Sight, Presence is able to analyse and report precisely what is happening outside the home."
The camera will work at night thanks to its infra-red night vision and also features a smart floodlight.
When the light is turned on, the camera can capture full colour videos.

There's also a pretty nifty Smart Zones function where users can select specific zones within the camera's view for motion detection alerts.
Presence will store a timeline of events using the internal micro SD card and can transfer the data to a smartphone using end-to-end encryption.
The device will be available from Q3 2016 and is compatible with both iOS and Android.
